Itinerary – 4 Days 3 Nights Rinjani Trekking

  1. Day 1 – Sembalun Village (1,156m) to Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639m)Day 1 – Sembalun Village (1,156m) to Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639m)

Your Rinjani trek starts early in the morning from Sembalun Village (1,156 meters), a quiet and beautiful area surrounded by green hills and farms. After registering at the Rinjani National Park office and getting a short briefing from your guide, your adventure begins.

The hike starts with an easy walk through wide open grasslands, where you can enjoy stunning views of Mount Rinjani. The first part of the trail is gentle and great for warming up. Along the way, you’ll stop at Pos 1 (1,300m), Pos 2 (1,500m), and Pos 3 (1,800m) for short breaks, snacks, and water.

As you continue, the trail becomes steeper and more challenging. The last few hours before reaching the crater rim are a bit tough, with sandy and rocky paths, but the view waiting at the top is worth it.

In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive at Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 meters), your campsite for the night. From here, you can see the amazing Segara Anak Lake, the small volcano Mount Baru Jari, and the valleys glowing in the sunset.

Enjoy a warm dinner prepared by your team, relax under the stars, and get a good rest for the summit climb tomorrow morning.

  2. Day 2 – Summit Attempt (3,726m) – Return to Lake Segara Anak (2,000m)

Your second day starts very early in the morning, around 2:00 AM. After a quick snack and some hot tea, you begin the summit climb under a sky full of stars. The trail to the top is steep and rocky, with loose sand and gravel that make each step more challenging.

The climb usually takes 3–4 hours, depending on your pace. As you get closer to the summit, the air becomes colder and thinner, but the excitement keeps you going. When you finally reach the top of Mount Rinjani (3,726 meters), you’ll be rewarded with an incredible sunrise view over Lombok, Bali, and even Sumbawa Island. It’s truly one of the most unforgettable moments of the trek.

After taking photos and enjoying the view, you’ll descend back to the crater rim for breakfast and a short rest. Then, the trek continues down to Lake Segara Anak (2,000 meters). The trail is steep in some parts, but the scenery is beautiful — passing through volcanic rocks and lush vegetation.

By afternoon, you’ll arrive at Segara Anak Lake, a peaceful place surrounded by high cliffs. Here, you can relax, take a dip in the natural hot springs, and enjoy lunch by the lake. The hot springs are perfect for soothing your tired muscles after the long climb.

Dinner and camping by the lake will make this day one of the most memorable parts of your Rinjani adventure.

  3. Day 3 – Segara Anak Lake to Torean or Senaru Campsite

After breakfast by the lake, your journey continues with a beautiful morning view of Segara Anak. The fresh air and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect way to start the day.

From here, you’ll begin the ascent toward Senaru or the Torean route, depending on your trekking plan. The trail starts with a steep climb away from the lake, passing through volcanic rocks and small streams. Along the way, you can enjoy amazing views of the lake and Mount Baru Jari, the small volcano in the middle of the crater.

If you’re heading to Senaru Crater Rim, you’ll climb back up to around 2,600 meters. The trek is quite challenging, but once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views — you can see the lake below and the summit behind you.

If you’re taking the Torean route, the path gradually goes down through lush green valleys, tropical forests, and waterfalls. It’s less steep than the Senaru route and offers a different kind of beauty — peaceful, cool, and full of natural sounds from birds and rivers.

You’ll arrive at your campsite in the afternoon, where your team will prepare a warm meal. Enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by nature, watching the sunset, and resting for your final day of the Rinjani trek

  4. Day 4 – Torean Campsite to Torean Village or Senaru – Transfer Out

Your last day on Mount Rinjani begins with a relaxing morning at the campsite. After breakfast and packing up your gear, you’ll start the final descent toward Torean Village or Senaru Village, depending on your route.

The trail mostly goes downhill through forest and valleys, with fresh mountain air and the sounds of nature all around you. On the Torean route, you’ll pass through beautiful landscapes — rivers, small waterfalls, and lush green jungle — making it one of the most scenic ways to finish your Rinjani adventure.

If you’re descending through Senaru, the trail leads through a tropical rainforest with giant trees and rich wildlife, providing shade and cooler temperatures as you go lower.

By midday or early afternoon, you’ll arrive at the end of the trek — Torean or Senaru Village — where your driver will be waiting. After saying goodbye to your guides and porters, you’ll enjoy a comfortable transfer back to your next destination, such as Senaru, Sembalun, or Senggigi.

Your unforgettable Mount Rinjani trekking journey ends here — tired but happy, with incredible memories and breathtaking photos to take home.
